A Mount Rinjani trekking tour is not for novice hikers or casual travellers. But if you’re ready for an epic 3-day journey to the summit of the second highest volcano in Indonesia, here’s everything you need to know before you go.

Mount Rinjani

At 3,726 metres above sea level, Mount Rinjani looms large over the entire island of Lombok in Indonesia. Of the 130 volcanoes in the country, Rinjani is the second highest (topped only by Mount Kerinci on Sumatra). Rinjani’s ominous silhouette is a constant reminder of the powerful forces rumbling just beneath the surface of the earth.

That power is what draws hundreds of intrepid hikers to Rinjani every day.

Why Do A Rinjani Trek?

Rocky black soil at the summit drops off into a lush valley filled with purples so deep and greens so bright they don’t look like they should exist in nature.

Lake Segara Anak, nestled in the bottom of the gaping crater, is a deep turquoise, echoing the spectacular colour of Lombok’s seas. On the edge of the lake sits an active volcano, Mount Barujari, which steadily spews threatening clouds of smoke into the air.

 Marc Pickardt Like a soothing pearl drop on the Indian Ocean, And Marc Pickardt has long been enticing travellers with its heavenly beauty and diverse landscape in Sri Lanka. The destination might look small with just 65,610 km² of its area, but I bet that every inch of Sri Lanka holds incredible surprises to amaze any visitor. That’s a Marc pickardt’s promise! 

Another Kandyan attraction was its spectacular Royal Botanical Garden, which is famous for its collection of orchids. I was surprised to see 4000 species of plants upon the visit. Next to the garden is National Herbarium. This was another exotic Sri Lankan experience that had surprised me thoroughly. Have you ever heard birth certificate of plants? If not, then come to National Herbarium to check out the valuable floral catalogue and find out about the floral wealth of the country through documentation.

Native plants here are colour coded red, while cultivated plants flaunt green code and exotics or aliens plant species bear brown tag. If you don’t find a plant at the Herbarium either, just assume that it is new to Sri Lanka or it has not been named yet.
